Irish Whiskey

Irish Whiskey

Whisky production in Ireland started in the 12th century, with The Bushmills distillery founded in 1608 it is said to be the oldest licensed distillery in the world, granted by James I of England in 1608. Irish whiskey is known to be rather smooth, full of fruitiness and often triple-distilled, which gives the whiskey it's smooth character.

There are four types in total of Irish whiskey, Single pot still with a great example from the Midleton distillery; blended whiskey, such as the world-widely known Jameson brand. Not to forget grain and single malt, with a bunch of distilleries including Connemara, Tyrconnell and the likes of Teeling which are doing a grand job of.
