This is the 8th release of the Arran Machrie Moor range. The whiskies are named after a ‘mystical’ peat bog called Machrie Moor, which is located on the Isle of Arran. So it makes sense that this is indeed a peated whisky from the distillery, and a tasty one to boot.

This batch of 12-year-old cask strength whisky from Arran is made up of seventeen first-fill sherry butts and four second-fill sherry hogsheads. Resulting in a deepinfluence of sherry, enhancing the classic Arran characteristics of sweet fruits and spiced oak.

This is Batch 3 of Arran’s ‘The Bothy Quarter Cask series. Matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, it was finished in American oak quarter casks for another 18 months. Bottled in September 2017 at 53.2% ABV, 13,800 bottles were made available.
