Chateau Les Ormes de Pez, 'the elms of peace' in the local dialect, is part of Domaines Jean-Michel Cazes of the more famous Chateau Lynch-Bages. Bought by Jean-Charles Cazes in 1940, the estate has been transformed through renovation work to modernise the winemaking facilities and converting the elegant chateau into a beautiful and exclusive guest house.
Wine production is overseen by the same team responsible for Chateau Lynch-Bages. 20 days of maceration and fermentation followed by 15 months in French oak, with 45% new barrels.
The 35 hectares represented by Chateau Les Ormes de Pez contain two distinct terroirs, one with gravel soil and the other with sandy clay, ideal for Cabernet varieties and Merlot respectively. Cabernet Sauvignon covers 54% of the vineyards with 37% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
