New Arrivals from Chateau Pichon Baron

The estate was received by Jaques de Pichon Longueville as a dowry when he married the founder’s daughter. An effective chateau owner, he was elected to be the first president of the Bordeaux Parliament. The estate was broken up between his children with part eventually becoming Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande or Pichon Lalande, and the other becoming Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron.

73 Hectares of vines are grown on gravel soil with poor nutrients and low water content yield small quantities of high quality grapes. The vineyard is planted to 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.

The first vintage of the millennium was fabulous for Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron, creating one of the legendary wines of the estate! Full bodied, complex, and so deep that Captain Nemo would think twice before dipping in. This could definitely benefit from another decade in the cellar!
