The Cattier family have a long history, beginning in 1763, as a part of the wine business in Champagne. At the beginning, they grew and cultivated vines in Chigny Les Roses in the centre of the Montagne de Reims, but they would not make their own wine until 1916.
Jean Cattier was severely wounded while fighting in the trenches in 1916 and was forced to return home. At this time, the Cattier vineyards were also struggling since the market for their grapes had dwindled since the war had started, but the injured Jean had a plan! He began making Champagne! From then on the Cattier Champagne house saw success upon success, acquiring more land, including the unique Clos du Moulin, and marketing their wines worldwide!
The most recent development was the launch of their premium brand, Armand de Brignac, which is intended to demonstrate the enormous potential of the wines which Cattier create from the region.
