The estate was received by Jaques de Pichon Longueville as a dowry when he married the founder’s daughter. An effective chateau owner, he was elected to be the first president of the Bordeaux Parliament. The estate was broken up between his children with part eventually becoming Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande or Pichon Lalande, and the other becoming Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron.
All five Bordeaux grapes are grown across the estate’s 85 hectares with a high proportion of Merlot in its wines.
