Armand Rousseau began growing vines at 18 years old when he inherited several vineyard plots in Gevrey Chambertin. At 25, he married and received several more plots including everything a budding domaine needs; a winery, cellars and a house.
It was not until the early 1920s that Armand began bottling some of his most remarkable wines to sell directly to customers and success was delivered quickly, with additional vineyards being purchased to expand the domaine. At his death in 1959, Armand Rousseau left the six hectare domaine to his son, Charles. Charles Rousseau, an expert oenologist and savvy businessman, would see the domaine's excellent wines being sold across Europe and later worldwide!
In 1982, following his father and grandfather, Eric Rousseau took the helm at the domaine and established an increased focus on organic winemaking to produce wines which sing the tale of the terrior!
