Delta was established in 2000 with the aim of making top quality Pinot Noir from a single vineyard. The vineyard on the Delta farm, first established in 1848, has low vigour, clay soils planted with the best of the new Dijon clones of Pinot Noir in 2001 and 2002. This specialisation in Pinot Noir sets Delta apart from the crowd in Marlborough. The Sauvignon Blanc comes from a single vineyard in Dillon’s Point, a part of Marlborough that Matt Thomson, one of Delta’s partners, has always rated highly for this variety.
