Chateau Fourcas Dupre is one of the top estates in the Medoc's commune of Listrac, a sleepy village a few kilometres west of Saint Julien. The word Listrac comes from the Latin Listra meaning limit or edge, signifying the outer extent of the Medoc vineyards. The soil gives a smoky minerality to the long lived wines, which are made proportionately from, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44 % Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. There is a long history of dedicated wine-making and vineyard micro-management here, back to the mid-nineteenth century.
