2016 Bordeaux En Primeur from Chateau Lynch Moussas

Chateau Lynch-Moussas was, in the 18th century, a part of the massive estate of Count Jean-Baptiste Lynch. The property was eventually divided, to give birth to Chateau Lynch-Moussas, and what would become Chateau Lynch-Bages.

Reaching the hight of its fame, it was named among the Cinquiemes Crus in 1855, but fell into disrepair in the late 19th century. In 1919, it was purchased by the Casteja family of the Borie-Manoux empire. The Castejas didn't produce any wine from the estate until 1970, at which point, there were only ten hectares under vine. However, a huge overhaul of the vineyards and the wine making facilities ensured a steady rise in wine quality and quantity, which should continue into the future!

The 60 hectare vineyard today, is planted to 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. The first wine tends to be made in similar ratios and is aged in 60% new French oak for around 18 months.
