La Croix de Beaucailou is arguably the second wine of Chateau Ducru Beaucailou, sourced from vines which are slightly further away from the Gironde estuary. These vines do not feel the moderating effect of the water, but by no means produce inferior grapes.
The 2016 vintage of La Croix de Beaucailou is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, producing a fresh and aromatic wine!
Beaucaillou literally means, 'beautiful stones' describing the large round stones which litter the vineyards of the wine estate. In 1795 the estate was sold to Bertrand Ducru, who gave the estate its modern name, and invested heavily in the chateau and vineyard, giving residents and guests an entertaining view of the maritime traffic on the Gironde and seeing the estate classified as a Second Growth in 1855.
It has since passed through multiple others and into the hands of the Borie familiy in 1941 who still live and operate the wine business from the Chateau.
The estate of Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou has 75 hectares under vine which are planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Each plot is vinified separately before blending. Depending on the strength of the vintage, the wine is then aged in 50% to 80% new French oak barrels for 18 months.

We aim to keep things as simple as possible and have opted for a flat consignment charge of £5 +VAT to mainland UK destinations. We are able to facilitate morning deliveries(before 10am & Midday) and Saturday deliveries for an extra charge, please contact us and we will see what can be done.

As a rough guide most standard (75CL) single bottles weigh 2KG and a case (12 x 75CL bottles) weighs 24KG.
In Bond storage is facilitated at Octavian in Wiltshire, the U.K's premier wine storage facility. The conditions at this old munitions base, 100 metres below ground are unrivalled, offering temperature control, In Bond facility and full replacement value insurance. The wines are stored under each client's individual "Protection Plus" account number, fully labelled and can only be released or moved with his or her written instructions. No right of lien can be exercised over wines held on each client's behalf. Client's stock can be inspected, by arrangement, at any time excluding November & December.
