2005 Chateau D'Agassac is the product of an outstanding year of growth! The blend is 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 1.5% Cabernet Franc.
Aromas of cherries are clearly apparent, roasted hazelnuts and almonds follow with a touch of warm spice. Balanced acidity and incredibly fine tannins complete this wine deliciously.
Chateau D'Agassac, from the depths of a long decline has seen a revival, bringing new techniques, renovation and modernisation to winemaking. They endevour to reject the rules which, they say, enslave Bordeaux wine producers and create wines which respect their terrior and natural styles, and ultimately are pleasurable to imbibe.
The winemakers at Chateau D'Agassac favour more gentle extraction techniques and restrain use of new oak in order to preserve the subtlety of the fruit, and bottles are sealed with screwcaps. Sustainable viticulture is also adopted where possible, preserving the delicate ecosystem of the land by limiting weeding and the use of artificial pesticides and treatments.
Medium/full bodied, with a nose of tobacco, earth, forest, blackberry and floral notes. The nose is a little better than the palate. There is freshness and even a bite of crispness to the fruit and a hint of rusticity to the tannins. This blend of 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 1.5% Cabernet Franc is drinking fine today.
A juicy and impressive wine from d’Agassac, the color of this 2005 is a saturated ruby/purple, while the wine offers forest floor, cedar, and blackcurrant notes, soft tannins, medium to full body, and surprising concentration and density. This is a winner and a sleeper of the vintage to drink over the next decade.
Very healthy crimson. Very nuanced, deep, spicy nose. Lovely velvety texture without being at all sweet. Lots of ripe tannin underneath but this wine is apparently quite possible to drink now because the intensity of ripe fruit is so great. Should beguile for quite a long time.

The conditions at this old munitions base, 100 metres below ground are unrivalled, offering temperature control, In Bond facility and full replacement value insurance. The wines are stored under each client's individual "Protection Plus" account number, fully labelled and can only be released or moved with his or her written instructions. No right of lien can be exercised over wines held on each client's behalf. Client's stock can be inspected, by arrangement, at any time excluding November & December.
