In true Ruinart style, the Chardonnay grape plays a central role in this Champagne. Sourced mainly from the Cote des Blancs Premier Cru vineyards, Chardonnay represents 45% of the cuvee alongside Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and the Vallee de la Marne.

This rose Champagne wine is a pastel pink which turns peachy on the rim. Fresh aromas of tropical fruits are accompanied by red berries and a subtle note of rose petal. On the palate we discover soft effervescence after a bold attack! This is a wonderful and versatile Champagne which can serve admirably as a aperitif through to a digestif.

Information About Maison Ruinart

The spiritual founder of Maison Ruinart of Champagne is Dom Thierry Ruinart. This man was a humble Benedictine monk and an exceptional scholar of theology and history. At the age of 23, he left Champagne to study at the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres near Paris where he was exposed to the city and the court of King Louis XIV. He discovered 'vin de mousse'  or sparkling wine, already popular with fashionable young aristocrats, and was convinced that it would take off!

Twenty years after Dom Ruinart's death in 1709, Nicolas Ruinart would begin producing vin de mousse in Champagne. These first bottles were intended as complementary gifts for clients of his drapery business, but within six years the business was exclusively sparkling wine. Nicolas Ruinart and his descendants would manage Maison Ruinart for the next 200 years.
