This beautifully crafted Sparkler from the Albury Estate on the Surrey Hills is a real star. Very fresh and vibrant as you would expect, with lime and lemony zest notes, but with a delicious fruit coulee concentration as a backdrop. Really well balanced, drifting effortlessly into the long refreshing finish. Super stuff. This would stand out against most Champagnes at this price level, it is individual and assertive.
Albury Organic Vineyard is situated in the Surrey Hills near the village of Albury and operates a fully organic and biodynamic wine estate. It was founded and managed by Nick Wenman in 2008 to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a vineyard! Nick is joined by Alex Valsecchi, an experienced horticulturist who works with RHS Wisley, and serves as the vineyard manager.
Grown on the estate are the traditional Champagne varietals of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in order to create high quality, English sparkling wines. More recently, Albury Organic Vineyards has crafted a still rose wine, made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, and this was served on board the Royal Barge for the Queen's diamond jubilee!
Located a stones throw from the vineyard are the Silent Pool Distillers, with whom the vineyard enjoys a friendly relationship. From a blend of their grapes, a brandy was created for Albury Vineyard known as the Duke's Reserve.
Pale with a vigorous fizz. The nose is ample with some evolved yellow fruit along with fresh lemony notes. The palate is bright and nicely shaped with plenty of zest and acidity, but not mouth puckeringly so, and there is an equally ample richness and fruit purity which carries the wine through to the finish. This is already showing the balance and natural poise of a wine much older. The fruit flavours are quite precise. This finishes nice and dry too. Great value fizz....

In Bond storage is facilitated at Octavian in Wiltshire, the U.K's premier wine storage facility. The conditions at this old munitions base, 100 metres below ground are unrivalled, offering temperature control, In Bond facility and full replacement value insurance. The wines are stored under each client's individual "Protection Plus" account number, fully labelled and can only be released or moved with his or her written instructions. No right of lien can be exercised over wines held on each client's behalf. Client's stock can be inspected, by arrangement, at any time excluding November & December.
