A sweet wine made from Muscat de Frontignan grapes which ripened and raisined beautifully after a late growing season. The blend of raisin and grape juices is very carefully prepared to ensure the perfect alcohol, sugar and acid concentrations, allowing fermentation to stop naturally.
This wine has polished gold colour with marmalade and marzipan on the nose, balanced texture on the palate with spicy orange zest flavours.
In 1980 the Jooste family purchased a run-down Klein Constantia that was in dire need of restoration. Lengthy soil preparation, replanting of vines and building a new cellar was all necessary. Built in time for the maiden 1986 vintage, the house subsequently received a Merit Award from the Cape Provincial Institute of Architects. In 2011, Zdenek Bakala and Charles Harman acquired the farm and, along with new Managing Director of the estate Hans Astrom, aim to build on the tremendous success acheived by the Jooste family.
Bright and gold in appearance with aromas of citrus marmalade and frangi pani abundant on the nose. The palate is full bodied and complex. A good sugar to fruit ratio combined with a great acidity ensures the wine is in balance. The wine concludes with a long, spicy and grippy finish.
