Selected from Vergelegen’s Rooiland, Vineyards, these grapes are grown on several differing soil types, which gives an extra level of complexity. . These vineyards are all north to northwest facing, with granite, Hutton and Clovelly soils. Vines were planted 4000 to the hectare. Seasoned with a dash of Petit Verdot and Merlot, the blend mimics that of great wines of Pauillac in Bordeaux. Plenty of rich blackcurrant and dusty tannins, this is a full bodied red, great with prime beef. Awarded an impressive 41/2 stars by Platters guide.
The beautiful Vergelegen wine estate has been lavished upon in several incarnations since it was founded in 1700. The current regime, Anglo American, has been in place since 1987 after a period of relative inactivity. The investment has brought this famous estate to the forefront of South African wine industry, and is now considered amongst the 100 finest wineries in the world.
Its proximity to the Ocean at False Bay maintains a mild climate, and the backdrop of the Hottentots-Holland maintain range provide a beneficial attitude of up to 310 above metres. The estate is blessed with a complex array of soil types which with intensive testing have been matched carefully to several classic grape varieties including Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Shiraz, Malbec, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The wines are stored under each client's individual "Protection Plus" account number, fully labelled and can only be released or moved with his or her written instructions. No right of lien can be exercised over wines held on each client's behalf. Client's stock can be inspected, by arrangement, at any time excluding November & December.
