Hayman is a family company with history dating back to 1863. The original family company was bought by James Burrough, who is the great grandfather of Chairman Christopher Hayman. James Burrough Limited consisted of a Fine Alcohols Division and a Drinks Division with a portfolio of Gin and Vodkas – most notably Beefeater Gin.
Christopher Hayman inherited his passion of Gin distilling from his Great Grandfather James Burrough who created Beefeater Gin in the 1800s. Christopher controlled the distillation of Beefeater Gin for 20 years until the late 1980s. He is one of the most experienced “Gin Masters” in the trade having been involved in the recipes and distillations of many Gins over the years.
Hayman's Old Tom Gin is produced from an original Old Tom Gin recipe from the family archives. Old Tom Gin is a botanically-intensive and lightly sweetened style of gin that consequently delivers a balanced and mild undertone which results in a subtle and distinctive gin experience.
Specified in the recipes of numerous classic gin based cocktails, it provides balance and nuance unique to its style and long tradition.
Hayman Distillers is the longest serving family owned gin distiller in England today. Hayman’s Old Tom Gin is made under the careful supervision of the Chairman, Christopher Hayman.
Distilled from 100% Grain. 40% alcohol by volume.
Nose: Hayman’s Old Tom Gin has a botanically-intensive, lightly sweetened fruity nose, with aromas of almond and creamy lemon-citrus. Hints of ginger, dark chocolate, and sweet, spiced coffee, with a light herbal spiciness from juniper and coriander, give a more rounded fragrance.
Palate: A rich, soft, round mouth feel, yielding to a sweet, medium body of ginger, orange peel and lemon zest, with accents of violets, rosewater and anise, provide the nicely balanced, traditional flavour of this lightly sweetened gin style.
Finish: After an initial delicate sweetness, hints of Juniper and spices supply a equisite, smooth finish.
Hayman’s Old Tom Gin won Gold in 2008 International Spirits Review in the USA with a score of 91 points ‘exceptional’. In the same year, The Spirits Business UK awarded it Master of the Premium Gin Category.
